Geosynthetic Clay Liner(GCL) is a new type of geosynthetics. It's made from grading natural sodium bentonite particles and admixtures mixed uniformly. By special technology and equipment, bentonite is fixed between two layers of geotextile which can made bentonite waterproofing blanket. It not only has all the features of the geotextile material, but also has excellent waterproof performance (permeability).
The waterproof principle of the bentonite is : bentonite particles meet water swellable, which leads to the formation of uniform colloidal systems, with the restriction of two layers geotextile, make the bentonite from become disorderly to orderly expansion, continuous water absorption expansion result makes the bentonite layer comes compacted which has waterproof function
